Ivor Van Heerden testifies in job dispute with LSU

Jindal says dredging can’t wait
~After inspecting thick oil-covered wetlands in Plaquemines Parish on Wednesday, Gov. Bobby Jindal renewed his plea for approval of an emergency dredging plan that could keep the oil out of Louisiana’s marshes. “This isn’t oil sheen or tar balls we’re seeing,” Jindal said. “This is the heavy oil we’ve all been worried about. Let me be clear, it’s here.”
A visibly frustrated Jindal said he has asked the U.S. Corps of Engineers to expedite its approval process for an emergency permit that would allow an aggressive dredging project to begin. The plan calls for dredging sand and using it to fill gaps in the barrier islands, which Jindal said serve as a natural protection for the wetlands. “I would much rather clean up a beach than the wetlands,” he said.

I will be performing with the Voice of the Wetlands Allstars at the Gulf Coast concert in New Orleans Sunday, and in all the media surrounding this big event i have read very little about what will be done out of all this for the poor people who live in the areas I mentioned. In fact,these same people have never really recovered from the effects of storms going all the way back to hurricane Andrew. These are our fishermen, our shrimpers, whose means of making a living and providing for their families that will be affected by this man made disaster now lurking in the Gulf. We know alot but what we don’t seem to know is that, it is being allowed to become worse day by day while BP finds a way to catch that oil. Anyone should have been able to see from day one that no attempts are being made to stop the spill, by crushing the pipe or perminantly plugging the leak. All of the attempts and Ideas are on how to capture that oil, right down to them inserting a smaller pipe into the leaking pipe, and that it will be all most another week before they can get a pipe hooked to syphon the oil up. No one is asking why they built the Top Hat, that Mini Hat, and even the insertion pipe, but could not build a pipe pinch off tool.

UPDATE~BP FAILS AGAIN! CRASHES ROBOTS, BRAKES OPEN NEW PIPE~Officials say they successfully inserted a new pipe into the broken pipe spewing oil into the Gulf. That new pipe started sending oil to a ship on the surface, but, just moments later, two remotely-operated robots crashed into each other and knocked the pipes partially apart.
The robots were taking photos of the operation.
~Update~Suddenly they report that the pipe thingy is working partially and aren't saying anything about the PR guys crashing the subs. OK Whatever We Don't Believe Them.
