For the first time, the Army Corps of Engineers proposes voluntary buyouts as one of the options for protecting Louisiana from a catastrophic hurricane

~Corps officials drafting the reports say the complicated process of determining how best to protect Louisiana's coastal communities probably should take at least five years, so missing a two-year deadline is not surprising???? (emphasis and Question Marks editor's. What is "not surprising" is the fact that the Corps of Engineers thinks that regularly missing design deadlines is "not surprising"! Editor would like to remind these Sparky Corps Officials that our wetlands have been disappearing for over 50 years.)
"Although I am painfully aware that each day of delay is disquieting to all of us that are dedicated to the Gulf Coast recovery efforts, we all realize that our decisions will ultimately be tested over time," Army Assistant Secretary for Public Works John Paul Woodley Jr.
Editor notes~ John Paul Woodley Jr is not an engineer.
Editor will never forget~Those decisions were "ultimately tested" when a weakened Category 2 hurricane Katrina missed New Orleans but the Corps' levees failed us anyway. Remember 8~29.

~CA-Why Natomas levees flunked
...U.S. agency used a new type of flood-risk analysis; critics fear faulty premises could distort the results. Instead, the Corps applied a new yardstick. {Or perhaps one of their trusty "Itolya' rulers"...scored with 12 inches but is actually only 6 inches long, "Look, Honey! I tol'ya it was 12 inches!"}

~FL-Army Corp to Return to Odyssey Middle School they had previously designated bomb free
~Video Interview with track field workers hurt when phosphorous bomb found on the ground in the open ignites~raising questions about whether the Corps of Engineers could muster the technical dexterity needed to pour piss out of a boot, even with the directions printed on the heel.
Update~Florida Senator Bill Nelson said Monday that the Army Corps of Engineers will return to Odyssey Middle School in Orlando with bomb detection equipment. DOH!!! Ya'tink?
