Public Forum on what is at stake in the lawsuit filed by the South Louisiana Flood Protection Authority- East against 97 oil, gas and pipeline companies

Dear 15706456,

Please join me at an important public forum.

WHAT: Public Forum on what is at stake in the lawsuit filed by the South Louisiana Flood Protection Authority- East against 97 oil, gas and pipeline companies

WHEN: Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 6:30 – 8:00 PM

WHERE: Basin Street Station, 501 Basin Street, New Orleans

In the weeks since the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East (SLFPA-E) filed suit demanding the oil industry to repair the damage to our coastal wetlands, controversy has ensued. Gov. Jindal and other allies of the 97 oil, gas and pipeline companies named in the court action have argued that the suit should not go forward.

The public is invited to a public forum aimed at providing the citizens of south Louisiana with an opportunity to hear from the relevant officials and get the facts. At issue is not only whether the oil industry should be made to pay for the damage, but whether the SLFPA-E has the right to bring the suit forward.

The forum, which is free and open to the public, is hosted by the Independent Women's Organization and by the East New Orleans Neighborhood Commission.
