~Coast Guard Lt. Commander Tony Russell said Thursday reports that fey Admiral Thad BPPR Allen, who is overseeing the operation, had called the procedure a success were incorrect.
He said Allen said that the flow of mud was stopping some of the oil and gas but had a ways to go before it proved successful

~It's interesting how many people have swallowed the BP public relations' bait to call the explosion from Deepwater Horizon oil rig the Gulf oil spill. We need to call it what it is: the BP oil spill. The federal government needs to take control and take punitive action against BP and any negligent government regulators immediately.
As a concerned citizen, preparedness speaker and author, and former commander of federal troops in disaster response, I watched with interest as BP brought out its big PR guns to protect its brand and its platoon of expert engineers, paid by BP to talk about how it happened and how they intended to fix it.

A fleet of boats under BP’s control sat idle this weekend as Jefferson Parish officials begged for the company’s help when a thick brown slick of oil threatened to enter two passes leading into Barataria Bay. BP officials in Grand Isle told Chris Roberts, a Jefferson Parish councilman, and other parish and city officials they did not have the authority to order the boats into action. “They said they were waiting for some direction from their people in Houma,” Roberts said. “But they never got it.”
Oil poured onto and past Grand Isle. But the boats never moved, Roberts said. Finally between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, parish and city officials decided they could not wait any longer.
“We commandeered the boats and brought them out to the area where they needed to be and got things moving,” Roberts said.

Port Fourchon Harbor Police officers arrest a Greenpeace activist that climbed aboard the Harvey Explorer offshore service vessel this afternoon in Port Fourchon.
The seven envir- activists were arrested at Port Fourchon today after boarding an offshore service ship and painting messages protesting drilling in the Arctic Ocean.
The group claims the vessel, which is owned by New Orleans-based Harvey Gulf International, is leased to Shell and is preparing to depart in support of drilling off the Alaskan coast this summer, which environmental groups have opposed.

A fleet of boats under BP’s control sat idle this weekend as Jefferson Parish officials begged for the company’s help when a thick brown slick of oil threatened to enter two passes leading into Barataria Bay. BP officials in Grand Isle told Chris Roberts, a Jefferson Parish councilman, and other parish and city officials they did not have the authority to order the boats into action. “They said they were waiting for some direction from their people in Houma,” Roberts said. “But they never got it.”
Oil poured onto and past Grand Isle. But the boats never moved, Roberts said. Finally between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, parish and city officials decided they could not wait any longer.
“We commandeered the boats and brought them out to the area where they needed to be and got things moving,” Roberts said.

Why don't they fly away? Because they're nesting. The one to the right of the oiled pelican is sitting on eggs, their next generation. That one won't have another. They cannot leave because Louisiana is their home and they were in the middle of living it.
Please notice the Pelican in flight grasps a stick in its beak... still building its nest... Pelicans just don't know how to bow.
We want to post pics of our favorite birds before they are gone.
This is going to get harder to watch... but we must as we have no more choice than our friends who will die.
You know LA once lost our Pelicans. They were gone until Florida gave us some chicks which were hand fed until a viable brood could work. Alas, this monster is going to Florida too. BP=Death.

She sees a common denominator in all the environmental cases she’s worked on since 1991. “What I believe is that the underlying root cause of all of these problems and these disasters is deceit,” Brockovich said in an interview.

"Mr. Hayward said that an effort by BP to cap the well using heavy drilling fluids, a process known as "top kill" that's due to be implemented early next week, "would be another first for this technology at these water depths and so, we cannot take its success for granted."
