~Editilla notellas~ I caught this on NPR yesterday.
In the Interest of Full Disclosure, I have been an ardent and total supporter of Ivor van Heerden with this Ladder.
So, today only, we will give him a chance to explain himself.
Tomorrow is another oil soaked day of fighting BP PR Hacks.
I would, however, like to note a couple of statements Van Heerden made to the nation that stick out like a broken thumb jabbed into my heart: "The damage from the oil coming ashore is overstated", "The oil has impacted only tens of miles" ~NPR, June 5th, 2010.
But...HOW COULD HE MISS THIS???????
~A pelican is found drenched in oil on Grand Terre Island, La. Concerns are mounting that the population of Louisiana brown pelicans, which were at one time near extinction, could once again be destabilized. June 4, 2010

All oil and Dead Pelicans makes Editilla a very dull psycho.

Burning Down The House
by The Talking Heads
Watch out, you might get what you're after
Cool babies, strange but not a stranger
I'm an ordinary guy
Burning down the house
Hold tight, wait till the party's over
Hold tight, We're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house
Here's your ticket pack your bag: time for jumpin' overboard
Transportation is here
Close enough but not too far, Maybe you know where you are
Fightin' fire with fire
All wet, hey you might need a raincoat
Shakedown, dreams walking in broad daylight
Three hun-dred six-ty five de-grees
Burning down the house
It was once upon a finer place sometimes I listen to myself
Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work, baby what did you except
Gonna burst into flame
Burning Down the House
My house, S'out of the ordinary
That's right, Don't want to hurt nobody
Some things sure can sweep me off my feet
Burning down the house
No visible means of support and you have not seen nuthin' yet
Everything's stuck together
I don't know what you expect starring into the TV set

"The damage from the oil coming ashore is overstated", "The oil has impacted only tens of miles" -- Ivor van Heerden
This AP article says over 125 miles of Louisiana coast alone had been "fouled" as of June 2.
But technically that is "tens of miles" ( "12.5 tens" to be precise) right?
And who cares about the oil plumes that don't even exist? (according to the Abe Lincoln of sources: Tony "I want my life back" Hayward)
Or about all the fisherman, oystermen, shrimpers, fishing guides, wetland guides, hotel owners, etc who have lost business (if not their livelihoods) because of "only tens of miles" impacted?
Besides, we can guess who AP's (anonymous) source is on this:
Damned pelicans have a reputation for hyperbole -- especially when it comes to the size of the fish they caught...and the amount of oil on their bodies, and on their (dead) chicks...
